TRAINING CENTRE PLAN

PLANS to build a training centre at the Isle of Man Business Park in Braddan have been unveiled. The centre will employ six people and provide training in commerce and business for at least 24 people.
Dandara Commercial wants to develop an empty plot between the two Manx Telecom sites and the Restart disaster recovery centre.
The land already has planning permission for
a telecommunications processor unit, but that hasn't gone
ahead.
A spokesman for Dandara said: 'It is now proposed to erect
an education/training centre on the site which will be used
to train groups of employees from Island firms in commerce
and business-related subjects, for example human resources
and information technology.
'The trainees will ordinarily attend a course for a full working day and, as such, the centre will not generate client or staff traffic during the day.
'As well as training facilities and office/administration space the centre will contain a restaurant which will cater for the trainees and staff.'
Dandara has applied (03/0919) to the government planning committee for permission to build the centre, which will be run by I Train.
It will have a floor area of about 360 square
metres set in a 2,500 square metres site. The plot will be
landscaped in keeping with the draft local plan for Braddan
and will include a rear garden accessible through the centre.
The Dandara spokesman added: 'Although the centre will generally
accommodate around 30 people at any one time — 24 trainees
and six staff — the building could have sufficient space for
a theoretical maximum of 40 people.
'Even though it is unlikely that all of those attending the centre would arrive in individual vehicles, 40 parking spaces have been provided. This is in excess of the minimum one space per 15 square metres suggested by the draft Braddan parish plan, a standard which in this instance would require 25 spaces.
